Description

The Hutto Police Department established our Victim Assistance Unit in January 2023 in response to the growing need to support victims of crime. The Victim Assistance Unit is a part of the Support Services Division and provides assistance to victims who may have suffered physical injuries or trauma as a result of a violent crime. 

The Victim Assistance Unit supports victims, survivors and families of the following incident types: 

Family and Intimate Partner Violence

 Aggravated Assault (child or adult) 

Child and Adult Abuse or Neglect 

Adult and Child Sexual Assault 

Robberies 

Hostage/Barricade Incidents 

Death Notifications 

Homicides 

Suicide 

Home/Structure Fire 

Natural Disasters 

Unexpected Death 

Harassment 

Stalking 

Motor Vehicle Accidents with Major Injuries 

Man-made Disasters 

Railway Disasters 

Disabled & Aging Population Abuse & Neglect Services

 

Services Provided: Crime Victim’s Rights Information, Explanation of the Criminal Justice Process, Case Status Updates, Texas Crime Victims’ Compensation Program Application Assistance,  Safety Planning, Mental Health Referrals, Counseling Referrals, Child Forensic Interview Accompaniment, Law Enforcement Interviews, Court Accompaniment, Medical Accompaniment, Special Event Accompaniment, Texas VINE Enrollment, Crisis Intervention, Address Confidentiality and Pseudonym Form Completion, After Death Planning and Accompaniment, Grief Resources, Community-Based Social Service Referrals, Legal Aid and Legal Advocacy Referrals, Transportation, Victim Impact Statement Assistance, Community Engagement Events, Prevention Programs, and Special Training and Presentations.
