The Texas Crime Victim Legal Assistance Network (TCVLAN) is proud to collaborate with The Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault (LASSA) which is a network of Texas non-profit organizations that provide assistance to survivors of sexual assault. Spearheaded by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation in 2015, LASSA’s mission is to provide statewide free legal services. Equipped with an accessible hotline number 1-844-303-SAFE (7233) this team of organizations breaks down potential barriers for survivors to receive the help they need. LASSA has built vital relationships with shelters, rape crisis centers, law enforcement agencies, and courts across Texas in order to tackle civil legal problems that stems from a survivor’s sexual assault. With an understanding of how trauma can effect a survivor’s life, LASSA provides opportunities to ensure that a survivor’s legal needs are met such as provision of civil protective orders, assistance with lease terminations, relocation-related matters, help in obtaining victim compensation, and other issues that can hinder a survivor from building their new life after their victimization.
TCVLAN helps the LASSA organizations to seek legal and non-legal services so survivors of sexual assault can be holistically served. Texas Crime Victim Legal Assistance Network’s collaboration with the LASSA Network allows us to better direct survivors of sexual assault to the legal experts they need.
