Client's spouse was murdered 8/24/2024 in Harris County. Client has a tourist visa, it will expire on 11/05/2024. Client is seeking a U visa to come into the USA after her current visa expires in case she must be present for the criminal case. Client's children have visas that won't expire anytime soon.

Client is a married Japanese immigrant without children. Home is H's separate property and there is extensive financial abuse and control. The most recent instant of physical abuse causing bodily injury was a strangulation incident some 3-4 years ago. Opposing party frequently reminds client that she has no rights to his house and will threaten divorce and eviction if she does not do what he asks. Client needs resources to become independent and is concerned about being homeless if abuser files for divorce. 

Client has a signed Authorization Agreement for Nonparent Relative from child's parents.  The now 16 year old child has been living with Client since November of 2023, after allegations of abuse from child to Client.  Parents have attempted to get child back by calling police once in November, but child talked to police and said he did not want to go back, and detailed abuse to officer. Officer did not force child back with parents.

Client is seeking a protective order against adverse party. Adverse party has slashed client's tires several times and the latest time was yesterday, 8/6/2024. Adverse party has followed client to her friend's home, her home, her mom's home and her boyfriend's home. Adverse party has sent client and client's daughter text messages stating that he wants to commit suicide.

On 7/3/24, victim's husband attempted to shoot her. Parties have been married for nine years and had been separated for about a month when the incident occurred. The suspect was arrested. Victim is asking for assistance with getting a divorce.
